Why Your Facebook Ads Aren't Converting (And How to Fix It)

Facebook advertising can deliver incredible ROI - but only when it's set up correctly. Most small businesses waste their first few hundred pounds because they skip the fundamentals.
Reason 1: You're Targeting Too Broadly
Trying to reach "everyone" means reaching no one effectively. Narrow your audience by interest, behaviour, and demographics. A smaller, targeted audience always outperforms a broad one.
Reason 2: Your Creative Is Boring
Static images with blocks of text don't stop the scroll. Use video, before-and-afters, or bold visuals that demand attention in the first second.
Reason 3: Your Landing Page Doesn't Match
If your ad promises "50% off summer styles" but your landing page shows your entire catalogue, people bounce. The landing page must deliver exactly what the ad promised.
Reason 4: You're Not Testing
Run at least 3-4 ad variations at once. Test different headlines, images, and calls to action. Let the data decide what works.
Reason 5: Your Offer Isn't Strong Enough
"Shop now" isn't compelling. "Get 20% off your first order + free delivery" is. Your offer needs to overcome the friction of clicking, browsing, and buying.
Reason 6: You're Giving Up Too Soon
Facebook's algorithm needs data to optimise. Running an ad for three days and declaring it "doesn't work" isn't testing - it's guessing. Give campaigns 7-14 days minimum.
Reason 7: You're Not Retargeting
Only 2% of visitors convert on the first visit. Retargeting ads to website visitors and video viewers is where the real conversions happen.
